I consult for global brands, NGOs and support organisations to help promote body confidence among their target group.
I consult for brands, such as Dove Unilever, to ensure that marketing messages for products and campaigns serve to empower consumers and promote body confidence. With my particular expertise in body image among adult women, who are the most targeted consumer group across the fashion, beauty, and fitness industries, I use evidence-based strategies to replace traditional messages which are harmful in reinforcing body dissatisfaction, sexism and objectification among women.
I work with support organisations by providing them with evidence-based guidance to help improve body image among their target group. This has often included organisations who provide support for people with a current or historical illness which influences appearance and body functionality. For example, I’ve consulted for Macmillan Cancer Support to ensure that they provide up-to-date and relevant advice for people who have experienced changes to their body as a result of cancer (e.g., scarring, fatigue, mastectomy, hair loss).
As part of a partnership between the Dove Self-Esteem Project and Cartoon Network, I consulted on the development of six cartoon shorts, a song, and an e-book, based on the award-winning ‘Steven Universe and the Magic Gems’ series.
The six cartoon shorts target key risk factors for body image concerns, such as media pressure, appearance comparisons, and body talk. The song, ‘We deserve to shine’, focuses on body confidence. Collectively, the cartoon shorts and song have had over 16 million views on YouTube and have been aired on TV in the United States of America.
The e-book, ‘Your magic mind and body’, is based on body appreciation. The messages reflect on the body’s functionality, such as its ability to grow and repair. The e-book is free to download and can be personalised.

As part of a partnership between the Dove Self-Esteem Project and Playmob, I worked with game developers to create an “edutaining” arcade-style online game which promotes body confidence among young people. As the player runs through a shopping centre, they avoid risk factors for body image concerns, instead collecting body confidence coins. The ‘Self-Esteem Squad’ game has been rolled out internationally.
With my body image expertise, I can consult for your organisation or brand to develop materials or marketing strategies that promote body confidence.
With my experience of consulting for both NGOs and business, I am familiar with processes and aims within each domain. Whether you’re seeking guidance on developing resources that promote body confidence among adults or young people, including among groups who have experienced changes to their body and appearance as a result of illness, or whether you’re looking to adopt a more inclusive and empowering marketing approach which encourages consumers to feel good about themselves, I can help you. With my knowledge of sociocultural and psychological influences on body image and strategies to promote positive body image, we can work together to produce materials, resources, and advertising which promote positive body image.
